Hi I have recenly bought a new Macbook Pro 13inch, i7 Processor, 8GB RAM, 2012 model. When I migrated all my data from my old MBP I have this problem with the Intel HD 4000 only showing 64mb dedicated out of 1469 (i think)
And my new MBP is lagging on some graphics demanding apps and even on COD Black Ops which ran really smooth on my old MPB (with Nvidia Ge320m)
I have tried installing the latest Intel drivers and the bootcamp drivers. I have looked around this website for help, can someone please assist me?
Thank you

What you're saying is that when you boot to Windows, the HD 4000 is only showing 64 MB of borrowed memory? The HD 4000 can borrow up to 1024 MB of system memory when 8 GB of system memory is installed. How much memory is the HD 4000 showing when you're in OS X? By the way, migrating data has nothing to do with the memory that the HD 4000 borrows.

Yeah that's the problem, I've looked everywhere on the web for a solution for only having 64mb out of the total amount. My laptop os lagging on even on old games
Iike left for dead 1. In OSX I think it's 521 mb which is fine, I can run AutoCAD, Photoshop etc.
For the data migration I meant that is it possible that I need a new driver and stuff because I had a nivdia graphics card and hence the drivers for it.

When you migrated the data from your old MBP, any settings that didn't apply to your new MBP including drivers were ignored. Old drivers won't work anyway so no need to worry about those. The problem is with Windows not recognizing the full amount of memory for the HD 4000.

You said you downloaded and installed the latest Intel HD 4000 drivers? Also, which version of Windows 7 did you install? If you installed the 32 bit version, that might be the reason you're not getting the full amount of your system memory (8 GB) recognized. Windows 7 32 bit will only recognize 3.6 GB of system memory regardless of how much is installed. The 64 bit version of Windows 7 will recognize the full amount and that might solve the problem with the HD 4000.

I have the Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit installed and since I don't have 32bit installed I shouldn't have the problem? Here are my specs

It appears Windows 7 is reporting everything correctly:

Physical Memory: 8098 MB
Minimum Graphics Memory: 64 MB
Maximum Graphics Memory: 1696 MB
Graphics Memory in Use: 92 MB

It's clearly telling you that it will use up to 1696 MB of VRAM (borrowed) from your system memory of 8 GB. The amount of graphics memory in use at any given time will depend on what's running. In the above read out, Windows was using 92 MB. During a game like COD Black Ops, that should go up depending on the frame rate.

I can't explain the lagging. Everything I've read about the HD 4000 states that it's an outstanding integrated GPU. Even the developers of X-Plane have qualified it for use with their flight simulator.

Ah alright then thanks a lot. But do you know if you need any software in order to play the game smoothly, for example like DirectX or like Microsoft Visual C++?

Well, for sure you don't need MS Visual C++ and since DirectX is already installed along with Windows 7, you should be OK.
