If I decide to download Pages, which is apparently the one suited to importing Word documents and exporting as a word doc, will it also appear and be usable on my iPad, and eventually the MacBook Pro (when I buy it)....

Dont want to spend money on it if I have to purchase it again to use on another machine. Thanks:D

You will need to buy 2 versions - one for OS X and one for iOS.

The OS X version can be installed on - I think it is still - 5 computers.
Not sure how many iOS devices are permitted per single app purchase, but it's several.

It'll cost ya a whole $30 to purchase both of them.

Try getting MS Word for $30.

(And not sure how that translates into your currency.)

If I only wish to use it on my Mac (mini OS X) and on a MacBook Pro would I only need the OS X installation? And for iOS installation for the iPhone and iPad if I wanted to use word on them too?

That would be correct.

So, you're looking at $20 for up to 5 Macs and another $10 for your iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone.
Total $30.

I would like to download Pages for my MacBook Pro, with OSX10.7.5. Tried searching for links mentioned in this thread but failed.

All I can find in the Apple store is Pages compatible with OSX10.9, with no links to previous OSX versions.

Can you point me in the right direction please? (I'm fed up with MS Word repeatedly telling me it was sorry it had to close, when I get to the end of its Merge Documents drill.)

When Mavericks was released, the iWorks suite (which was '09) was also updated - I now have the new iWork suite on my MBPro & iMac (the old '09 apps were saved in folders in Finder and can still be used) - so the reason that the MAS is just offering the newer versions.

Your choices are to: 1) Upgrade your OS to Mavericks; or 2) Search the web to see if '09 Pages can be DL for installation - hopefully others will 'chime in' to help w/ the latter option. Good luck - Dave :)

Do a Google search for the iWork 09 demo version. There are still several sites that have it for download. However, you must register the demo version (pay for it) before Apple will allow you to get the free upgrade to Pages 5.01 (Mavericks version.) You will also receive the new Numbers and Keynote apps. That will get you both the iWork 09 apps and the new ones.

I had been a bad boy installing (in 2012) pirated versions of Pages/Numbers/Keynote just to see if I would like the apps. ...

Then Apple in 2013 decided that I even these pirated apps get a free update to the latest version, so I am pretty pleased :)

Their hope is that this will encourage you to buy the (other) software you use. That is my hope too.

You may be pleased, but obviously you haven't read through our "Community Rules" which you can find in my signature line.
