Edit iPhoto w/ iPad and transfer back to the MAC

While traveling I would like to edit my messed up photo library on the iPAD- it was messed when transferred from my old MAC to the new one.
So I would like to:
- download my library to the iPAD
- do all the editing, delete, regroup, name, etc.
- download the edited library back onto my MAC when I get back.

Is this doable? What is the best way to do the transfer back and forth.

When you say 'library' do you just mean a collection of folders with pictures in? Or do you mean a bespoke library file produced by a particular application?

I mean the whole iPhoto library as it is on my Mac. Thanks. D
