Problems Converting PSD File to JPEG

I am having trouble converting a PSD file (479MB) to JPEG using Preview. I go to save file as, save the file under JPEG Format using the best quality. When the image is done converting, the photo has changed colors and almost looks like a negative of a photo. Has anyone experienced this or knows what I am doing wrong. Much Thanks

I wonder if you'd be better of processing the PSD with Photoshop, and if you don't have that, another photo program that can read PSD's like GIMP..
