That drive should work fine on a 2009 Macbook. I know some of the early MB's had issues with some SATA 2 drives but since yours is a later Macbook, should work fine.

Let's not start a new thread with the same subject. I merged your post with the thread you already started.

Are you sure you have a 2009 Macbook? What is the Model number and ID? The ID I am talking about would say 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, 5.1 ETC. If yours for sure only takes 6GB it's not a 2009.

Find and post that info please. The model should be silk screened on the bottom somewhere.

Under the battery is the EMC number.

Basically a year ago apple repaired my hard drive broke in the first 6 months but kept on working just really slow. i noticed changes in games and performance.

also will this drive work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136279
the only difference is its smaller than the this drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m1132X508313X6b1c5fa024efbd1b4fa30f501e2fc093

You don't have to keep posting hard drives.... any 2.5" SATA notebook drive will work. Just make sure it's 2.5" wide and no more than 9.5MM thick. Also, if you go to Other World Computing, they outline which drives and what memory will work in your MB.

That is what I was trying to convey to him about OWC. With they you know it will work or they will take care of it for you!

That's OK. We're not trying to discourage you, just want to make you aware of where you can shop with confidence, and Other World Computing is top notch.

Agreed with Chscag, Only reason I mentioned OWC is that with some MacBooks, Usually the early ones, there was some issue with 3.0 SATA drives working with the old SATA controller. With 5.2 machine that should not be an issue, but with OWC they will make sure it works. Excellent place to get hardware for Apple products.
