I have recently been unable to connect to any online games on my mac using OS X.

I have windows installed on boot camp as back up and all of the games still work on it. My internet is working fine on OS X, its just blocking me from playing games, my firewall is off and i haven't changed any settings since it was last working a week ago.

Any help is much appreciated :)

Quick recap... you're playing in Windows or Mac?

So you're playing these online games in both Windows and OSX?

I have them installed on both operating systems, but i prefer to play on OS X rather than windows 7, but it is not working.
I am not playing them on both OS at the same time haha =p

And are you able to launch patchers?
In other words... are you unable to connect to the game launcher and update servers to retrieve patches and other such data?

All my games are patched fully, i even reinstalled one of them, they simply cant connect to the servers. As the games work fine on on Win7 atm it is not a server issue and is my OS X :/

Could be there are some background processes interfering, maybe your ports aren't forwarded properly.
Maybe you have a proxy set up, inadvertently.
You could also check your connection, maybe your ping is too high.

There are no programmes running (checked using apple-option-esc)
My ping is almost 500
I have no idea how to check ports or proxy?? but surely thats all fine cos it works on Win7?

Settings of Proxy's may vary in each OS.
System Prefs/Network/Advanced/Proxy's.

If that doesn't shed light on the issue, I'm also at a loss :)

After much hassle i realised that peer guardian has been automatically running in the background even after force quiting it, after disabling its filters and closing it the problem seems to be solved.
However thanks for your time its much appreciated :)

I keep forgetting about peer guardian - seems like every time it rears it's head we'll have half a dozen posters within a week with the same issue.
