I have a MAC Snow Leopard which is supposed to have this built in. however much I try I cannot see what possible advantage this has. I am constantly referred to places where I am requested to actually buy this expensive programme, also the GRAGON DICTATE which is my preference.

Appreciate it if anyone can tell me what possible advantage Snow Leopard's built-in speech recognition is The same question for my Sony Vaio PC. Neither seems to offer anything without actually buying the programme !

The built in Speech facility is for disabled assistance and can take spoken commands, but is not a dictation service

Dragon Dictate is much better suited to the task your are talking about
