I have a MacBook, the white kind bought in 2008. It still works great, but I'm concerned about the operating system, OSX 10.5.8. I have been using Chrome and it is no longer updating, it also says Apple isn't updating this any longer also. Is this true? If so, I don't think I can upgrade to Mountain Lion, what system should I upgrade to?

The 2008 White MacBooks can only be updated to Lion. The reason they can't be updated to Mountain Lion is because of the graphics adapter. Also, before updating to Lion, you might consider increasing the memory. That particular MacBook can take up to 6 GB of memory but I recommend at least 4 GB before going to Lion.

Also, you will need to upgrade first to Snow Leopard ($29.99 direct from Apple) before going to Lion.

Thanks, and I am sorry for being so thick, but basically you are telling me I have to do two separate upgrades, first to snow leopard then to lion?

That's what I'm saying. :)
