how to retrieve files from my internal hd ?

hey guys,

my logic board broke recently and its out of apples extended warranty. as of right now i just need all my files thats on my harddrive. my questions are :

- can i remove the internal hdd and somehow make it into an external drive and plug it into another macbook and retrieve my files that way ?

-if i do decide to replace / fix the logic board, where is the cheapest online store that sells replacement logic boards ? wouldnt mind buying the tools and changing it myself if it'll save me some money.

If you have an external enclosure, you can plug the drive into it and extract the data from another Mac.
