when my macbook woke from overnight sleep, the screen stayed completely dim. brightness control does nothing.

how to brighten non-responsive screen?

Does the brightness control work at all? How about when you're using the machine normally and not coming out of sleep mode?

Also, when you post it helps us to help you if you tell us about your Mac and which version of OS X it's running.
