How do I upgrade from 10.5 to 10.8. It is for a friends Intel iMac. I hear that a direct upgrade to Mountain Lion is not possible. I don't know where to start.
Thanks for anyones help :D

He needs at least 10.6 Snow leopard in order to install the App Store and download Mountain Lion

Not every Intel based Mac can be upgraded to Mountain Lion, while all Intel based Mac's can be upgraded to Lion. So figure out exactly what year/model the iMac your friend has is and go from there. If it's post-2007..then you're OK..

Thanks. I'll try to dig up a disc.
:)

It has to be a retail disk; the OEM disks that come with Macs are machine specific and will not install on your friends Mac. Call Apple (online store) and they will sell Snow Leopard on DVD for $29 USD.
