I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011 running 10.8.2 and I can't seem to disable indexing on my WD external HDD. I have tried adding my external to the privacy tab to exclude spotlight searching, I've also running sudo mdutil -a -i off and sudo mdutil -i off /path to volume in the terminal but it still seems to be adding these index files to my external.
The main reason I want to disable this is because when I connect my eternal to my Samsung TV, all the hidden ._. files show plus it kinda annoys me that I can't control what Spotlight is doing on my MacBook. I've heard the "Leave spotlight alone, it barely uses any resources" argument before and thats not the issue. If anybody could please help with this problem or set me straight (actually) I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance.
