Internal and external microphones not working on my iMac.

The internal and external Microphones give no signal in the input level. Skype test failed and that happened all of a sudden.

Mac info: Mac OS X 10.6.8

I would appreciate some advice.

Did you try doing a PRAM reset while restarting?
Hold down the command-option-P-R keys, and it should reset the microphone so it will work again.
