I have an indigo iMac G3 running Mac OS X Panther, has 512 mb of RAM, 400 MHz prossessor, 180 GB hard drive, and an Apple Airpor card and adapter.

I'm trying to connect to an encryped wireless network (in case you didn't read the title.)

I think range might be the problem, since the iMac is in my basement and the router is on the 2nd floor of my house.

You may actually have two problems:

1. Router is out of range

2. Your G3 airport card is wireless "B" only.

I have the same problem with a 2003 Toshiba. Had to add a wireless "G" dongle for it to work with my router.

Okay, I'll try moving the computer closer to the router and sees if that works, if not I'll find a dongle.
