I read something interesting in my MacWorld Newsletter this morning. It seems Google has promised a forthcoming "Street View" app for iOS 6.

Here's a quote:

Google may be pushing Street View to mobile Safari

iPhone users frustrated with the inaccuracies in iOS 6's Maps app might get another choice for finding where they want to go from rival Google, which is expected to make Street View available on the iPhone in the coming weeks.

I'm guessing that in less than 1 year, the Maps app will have upgrades to it that will make it the maps app to use. I already use it over my actual GPS due to it being easy to input addresses, and searching. The quality of the navigation image/video is also top-notch imo.

Google could have made this a non-issue if they had simply made the maps app for iOS as good as the one they ship with their Android devices. They already had the market share, all they had to do was include iOS users and we'd have all been willing and happy slaves to their system.

Instead they chose to treat them like second class citizens and play a game. Sure, Apples Maps sucks now but give it time. I've already seen features in Maps that I like over Google maps and it'll only get better.

Google needs to stop playing the "we're mystified by all of this game", no one is buying it. It's a two way street (pun intended) but google opted not to map it for everyone....
