So I was running an older version operating system (Leopard) and I have now updated to Snow Leopard. Seems as though that went okay. I ordered from apple so it was specific to my computer I guess. I then tried to DL the new iTunes and it lets me click the download button the download box comes up as its installing then I click the program when it is done and another iTunes box shows up with an iTunes icon and a "read before you install iTunes" icon also comes up. I click the iTunes install icon and it tells me system rejected???? I have spent hours and trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

Have you updated Snow Leopard to 10.6.8? That's the minimum requirement for iTunes 10.7.

You can grab the combo update from here.

Thank you I will try that. I thought I did all the updates. I remember it telling me about Safari.

Thank you.

Open up 'About this Mac' - it'll tell you the version of OS X you have installed.

It tells me I can update and this is what it says

A new version of iTunes (10.6.3) is available. Would you like to download it now?

I click download and it tells me there are no updates.

Go to the link you posted and download 10.7 - forget 10.6.3.

So the update is for those of you who really care. I was downloading the new iTunes but I was not directing it to the applications so I kept downloading them and clicking on the short cut on the bottom tray. I won't take credit for figuring it out, but none the less I am up to date. Thank goodness now I can update the new iphone.
Thank for the help bobtomay..

Good deal. Now it's time to consider going up to Lion or Mountain Lion, if your machine supports it.

As you've seen, getting into a rut with OS X and not getting your updates can put you in a bad spot over time. Nothing is worse than getting a new iDevice and having to jump through hoops in order to use it with your machine.
