Folks:

I would like to purchase Photoshop. I don't believe I need CS2, since I only want it for minor personal photography repair, fixes, etc. Any suggestions of how to get an inexpensive copy of, perhaps, the previous version of Photoshop? Is it possible to buy a used copy from someone or are not such software products transferable?

One of the tools you will not have in elements is the Patch Tool. This one rocks and is available in version 7.

So how would you suggest I get version 7 at a great price?

Download GIMP (legal free download), can't give you link right now, cuz my internet is teh messed up, but it's like Photoshop, and it's good from what I hear.
Otherwise, iPhoto is decent for Photo Repair, or yeah, elements isn't bad. If you can, also student discounts are great, MUCH cheaper, how I got my PS.

Don't mess around with older versions of Photoshop.

Adobe just released Photoshop Elements 4.0 and it's a winner. I've used Elements 2.0 since its release a few years ago, and I've used the full Photoshop application since version 3.

Elements 4.0 is definitely the way to go.
