Apart from 80 million people trying to do the same thing you're trying to do, no.

Sleep on it and try again tomorrow.

Close down everything running in the multitasking tray. Do a hard restart on the phone (hold sleep/wake & home buttton until the screen goes dark and the apple logo appears).
Now, try again as suggested.

If that doesn't work try updating via iTunes, or directly on the handset.... whichever it is your not trying at the moment.

If you still have no joy, assuming you have a backup, reset the phone and try a restore.

I hear that some people are having issues because there's not enough space on the phone to hold the downloaded OS before installing. So check and see if you have at least 700mb of space (I think thats approx the size? Maybe more) If you aren't updating from iTunes currently, I'd recommend doing it through there.

Also, I recommend doing a tethered update, as opposed to doing "software updates" on the phone itself. Not that I have any reason to believe that this is problematic, but in my experience, having iTunes backup the device and facilitate the upgrade may be a safer way to do it.

Actual free space required is closer to 2.5GB, not 700MB. At least from what I've seen and read since yesterday.

For the iPad it was 2.7 GB of free space needed.
