epson scanner drivers

Hi I've got an epson stylus scan 2000 usb, a bit old i know but works quite well and is economical, problem is the scanner is not detected on my i mac tigar and there are no drivers on the epson site. funny thing is i did find an application a few days ago and scanned in a couple of photos and for the life of me i cant remember what it was, the normal apps like dreamweaver and i photo will not find the scanner.
can anyone help. is there a generic driver or should i just trash it?

Try using Apple's Image Capture Program, and if it doesn't find it automatically, use Browse Devices, from the Devices menu. When the Canon software for my multi-function device didn't work, I opened this and it worked first time.
