Is this a full retail version of Windows 7?

When exactly do you get the message? After you reboot following the partitioning?

Which version of OSX?

So is that before the reboot then?

If you put the windows disc into your Mac is it mounted? Can you view the contents in Finder?

Then I'd suggest you have a faulty disc or a faulty drive.

Do you have other discs (anything will do)? Do they mount ok?

The disk worked perfectly when I installed it on my Vaio a while ago.The drive is working fine. Excuse the ignorance but when you say " mount ok " do you mean they appear on the desktop or do the have to be a Dmg file? sorry not too techie!!

You should see it in the Left Sidebar in Finder (with an eject symbol next to it).
You may also see a disc icon on your desktop depending on your settings.

Didn't turn up in finder and all it does is eject the disk. Do you have to have windows disk for mac because I bought it for my Vaio laptop which was running vista and it installed perfectly on a windows machine.

Didn't show on desktop either and I have mac set up for these to show.

No. It's just a standard windows DVD.

Does it still work in the VAIO?

Im afraid I don't have the VAIO anymore.;(

Its really baffling because by all accounts it should work perfectly well.

Maybe it is the DVD? I can't get another copy just yet though.

It's likely the disc, microsoft will replace damaged disc for a small handling fee

Did the disc come with the Vaio?
If so, then that particular disc probably only works with that particular laptop.

And did that do exactly the same thing as the other disc?
If so it's likely the drive itself at fault.....

So the blank burned ok, but won't read.......

You could try another brand of disc and burn the image at the slowest speed
