ipad1 - connection

what is the best way for my ipad1 to work as wi-fi,when i can't log on to a network close to me? is it possible to connect to my iphone with 3G? just asking because i need to use it for my business(garden centre).
i hope some one can give me a solution........

You need to have tethering activated on the phone and I don't think that was available on that model phone.

I'd suggest calling whoever you use for IT support for the business and talk to them about getting your wifi setup so that it is available anywhere on the grounds of the garden center.

3G is slow... slow... slow...

Even if you could tether it to your phone, you'd be miserable with it sitting there waiting to get at the the info you want/need.

A newer iPad with 4G access could be an option, although, in the long run probably more expensive than expanding your wifi network.

thanks to you both for your help (bobtomay and osxx) i now have access to internet through tethering again thank you both for your help.

good deal - how did you end up doing it? Tethered to your phone or did you end up extending the wifi on the property?

tethered to my phone and works great.........its nice to be able to get in touch with the world...
