Monitor not working, stays black when awake from sleep

Hi Everyone,

My MAC Desktop screen currently stays black when I awake it from sleep. I can hear everything else workng but the monitor does not display the screen.
Any Advice? Did Something burn out? Please help!! Need to get back online soon!!

Does it work OK when you first power on your Mac? It also helps if you tell us which Mac (year and model) you have and what version of OS X you're running.

Is this an iMac (built in monitor) or a Mac Mini/Mac Pro (external monitor)? Have you checked the brightness settings?
