How to get directory path.

I want get diroctory path of an apllication where application stores its logs in mac os x . how can i get this work programmatically ... Is there any prefrences settings about it how can i get this setting?

Are you trying to get the directory for logs created by your application or another? I don't know how you'd do this programmatically but you could use Console (/Applications/Utilities) to find them.
