This is actually my first shooting of sunsets, ever. I seldom stay up late enough to even take one. I kept only two that I liked out of dozens. Here they are.

Cannon Beach, OR - Haystack Rock

Nice photos. Love the second one.

Thanks for looking & for your comments. The 2nd photo was taken about an hour before the beach scene. Since I can't be in two places at once I stopped to photograph the Garabaldi Rocks in time to make it to the 2nd location. I too like the Garabaldi shot. I've been at this same location before but not with the "Golden Hour" quality light. I was fortunate for the clear skies although it would have been nice to have some passing skies. I'll remember to order up some for any subsequent visits. :)

Great pics!

My vote is for the first, but then again, I am very partial to sunrise or sunset photos (actually greatest preference is with the sun just below the horizon).

Just below the horizon is great if I had a more spectacular sky but in this case I wanted to maintain some detail in Haystack Rock that I would have lost had the sun dropped too low. Also I liked the reflection of the sun streaking in the water. Thanks for looking & for your comments.

Both great shots as usual - but I prefer the first one.

This is a shot I took last year with a D3100 of Mumbles Head from Swansea Bay near the city centre
