The specs of my MacBook are to the left.

Can any DDR2 200-pin RAM be used? I believe there's a 4GB limit set by Apple (and a 6GB actual limit, is that if you're installing Windows?). Is 667Mhz limited? Does the chipset support 800Mhz? Are there any brand restrictions? I'm looking at this Corsair RAM kit.

I'm also considering an SSD upgrade here.

Thanks.

You have an early 2008 MacBook. Mactracker says:

6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)

Memory Slots 2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

The Corsair ram kit will work as it's the same as above. As for the SSD upgrade, I personally would not do it on that old a machine. You can buy a nice fast 7200 RPM spindle hard drive for way less and in a much larger size. Go to the Other World Computing site and take a look at their 2.5" notebook drives.

I don't want size, I want speed. I'm looking at a 240GB SSD that will increase the size from 150GB (all I need on there is iTunes music and videos). Everything else can go on external storage.

The "need" for "speed". Have at it then..... Other World Computing has a nice line of SSDs you can spend your money on. LINK

I live in Australia so I'll be sticking with local stores, thank you though. Do you think having an SSD will make a noticeable difference?

Yes, an SSD will make a noticeable difference in boot time and with some applications. As far as living in Australia, several of your fellow countrymen use OWC to order memory and parts from. They ship world wide, have excellent service and may be less expensive than what you would pay back home.
