Hey all -

Hope all is well. I was wondering in people are getting the same issue, I am getting with this site. Everytime, I go into a thread the following screen pops up.

It locks down the computer, unless I hit one of the options. So If i hit stay on page, it sometimes directs me to Walmarts site or lets me continue to the thread I want to read. But it happens everytime.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Hwilensky

Strange topic title for this problem, which is also strange, but unrelated. Anyway...

Safari > Reset Safari
Clear cookies and cache

See if that helps.

I guess it is a weird title, however, this is the only site that I am having issues with. I figured they would know what to do. I cleared the history, I hope that it works.

update: It did not work. Any further ideas?

I've been running my browser without any ad filtering for about a week now due a member reporting an issue with music (apparently coming from one of our ads). I've not encountered this issue, so I suspect you may have some kind of a misconfiguration and/or malware.

So, we know you're using Safari, but we don't know much else. What version of OS X, Safari, etc? Do you have any third party plug-ins? Is Java enabled? Have you tried scanning with an anti-malware product? (free, recommended ones include Bitdefender (available on the Mac App Store) & ClamXAV)

I'll be darned! I just ran through a few clicks - and sure enough, there it was!

This is definitely not a "just you" issue. We will be looking into it from our end starting right now.

So, today this site now asks me "Are you sure you want to leave this page" - for no obvious reason - and whether I click on "stay on this page" or "leave this page" - or do nothing, it takes me to some page at walmart.com.

It's only happening on this site.

Thought you would want to know. I'm using Firefox.

Just noticed this issue as well. Glad it's being looked into as it is very annoying.

Thanks, I am glad I am not the only one. If it helps I am not running any extensions. I have the latest operating system OS X(10.8.1). I am using the latest Safari (6.0) and my mac is 21.5 mid 2011. I have not run any programs like those stated above. Any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Hwilensky

Yeah, it's definitely site-specific. In the meantime, I would highly recommend using an Ad Blocker in your browser (not just for this site, but for the web in general):

AdBlock For Safari

It doesn't seem to matter whether or not you have a popup blocker on. Not sure about ad blockers since I don't use one. It's an effective popup ad because no matter how you get rid of it it takes you to the Wal-Mart site. I give enough of my money to Wally World, I really don't need them to remind me to shop there with pop ups! ;D

Our Admin has reported the problem to iNet. Give them some time to work on it. We'll get back to you here and let you know. And in the meantime as cwa107 advises, use an Ad Blocker.

Safari Ad Block definitely gets rid of it.

I've installed the Ad Blocker for Chrome. I'll let you know how effective it is as soon as I sign off and on again.

OK, the Ad Blocker for Chrome works. You can download it from here. Note, however, that it's donation ware.

I always run with Flashblock and Adblock Plus and have never seen this. With the ad-based theme, I just get blank spaces where the ad would have been shown..

Its getting confusing with having to follow my post from forum to forum. Keeps getting moved all around, its like my wife playing tricks on me, LOL. Anyway, can someone recommend a good ad blocker for safari. Being relatively new to the mac, I really do not know any.

Thanks,
Hwilensku

Any updates to whether or not this was fixed?

Thanks,
Hwilensky

I'm sorry to say, but our corporate parent has not responded. We (the admins and mods) have no control over the ads (which definitely cause this condition), so we're kind of in a holding pattern just as you are.

We haven't heard anything yet. In the meantime, be sure to use an ad blocker to keep that dialog from showing up. We'll post something here as soon as we receive word that it has been resolved.
