I've been using Neooffice for as long as I can remember. I even paid the user fee for it. I understand there are many alternatives now though. Can someone recommend wether I should stick with Neooffice or if I should move to another competitor? Apple's word processor isn't a consideration, only looking at ms office competitors. Thanks.

If you are happy then stick to it

I know that the OPen Office fork Libre Office is being more actively developed

Agreed. As long as it is doing what you need stick with it. I would periodically keep tabs on Libre Office to see if they have added something I need.
