I have a bad hand...very painful to use a mouse and type...

Can anyone suggest a way around this nightmare?
I was considering Voice Recognition Software...Has it been Perfected or is it still problematic?

Is the Apple Track Mouse a good choice to minimize pain when using a mouse?
Common sense dictates that moving a ball...rather than the entire mouse...would be preferable..

Any Suggestions are Greatly Appreciated...

Depending on what Mac you have, you might want to take a look at the Magic Trackpad. If you have an Apple store nearby, you can try it out yourself. You just move the fingers as needed and click with a tap and do a lot of things with gestures. The Magic Mouse does a lot of the same but with limited gestures and still requires to be moved for cursor management..

Voice Recognition has come a very long way with Dragon and even Dictation that's built into OS X. What version of OS X are you currently running?

VR might not 100% fool proof, but if it gets you 90-95% of the way there, perhaps the small/minimal edits you have to make will be an overall benefit to you..

I would agree on the reccomendation to take a look at the Magic TrackPad instead of a mouse or trackball. I've been using one for several years and love it.

Here are a couple of links to get you started with Dictation:
OS X Mountain Lion: How to enable Dictation for users who are managed by Parental Controls
OS X Mountain Lion Dictation Review: It's Time to Talk to your Mac

Know that Dictation is meant for use with quick voice commands or transcribing. You won't be able to use it to write an entire e-mail or document or anything like that. For anything longer than 30 seconds you'll have to go down the Dragon Naturally Speaking or similar application route..

Maybe you have already considered and discarded the option , , , but it has been suggested twice, to try the Magic TrackPad. Instead you seem to be locked in on some variant of a mouse.

The primary advantage in your case of a trackpad over a mouse is no gripping action is required and you can use any portion of your hand or any finger to actuate it.

Could you translate that into regular English, please..
