iPhone sound file

How can I transfer the sound file from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro Library > Sounds?
I am running OS 10.7.4

Which sound file are you referring to? What app does it belong to?

In iPhone: Settings > Sounds I have in all the alert options a choice of some 25 tones. I would like to have the same options on my MacBook and Mac desktop. This will give me consistency across all devices.

Hi John,

I'm not aware of where those sounds are stored on your iPhone as they are system sounds therefore effectively hidden. I do know that my MacBook Pro makes the same sound when an email appears as the default sound on the phone.

You can add custom tones to your phone, so you can achieve consistency this way if no other.

I'll persevere. Being an old fart I need something better than the OS 10 sounds – mainly louder and longer!!

It is possible to add new system sounds to OS x. Almost any sound you can get into the computer can be used as a system alert sound. There are a few things to keep in mind

1. Keep them relatively short. In most cases once a sound starts playing it does not stop till it gets to the end.
2. Save the sounds as uncompressed .aiff files. This allows usage in the OS itself. Some other files will not work.
3. Alert sounds must be in .aiff format to appear in the Sound preference pane.
