While running Tech Tool Pro 5 and Permissions Repair, power in the building went out for about 1 minute. iMac now has blank screen and won't start. No DVD eject hole, pressing left side of mouse while trying to restart doesn't work. What next? Didn't find any good answers on Tech Tool site.

Are we to assume that this iMac has a DVD stuck in the optical drive?? The post really doesn't spell this out as a problem specifically…since "blank screen" is the thread title.

Usually the "mouse trick" you tried will eject the DVD. Have you tried the eject button on the keyboard?

Thanks for response Nick,
Yes, I did try the eject key, more than once. Evan in combo with pushing different keys and the mouse.

Unbelievable! I unplugged the iMac in the wall duplex and plugged it back in, pushed the start button and it has come to life. Taking a long time to start but is pulling itself together.

When you did that, you reset the System Management Controller (SMC). That would have been our next suggestion. Glad to hear you're back up. And you learned something about your iMac. By the way, buy yourself a good UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and you won't have to worry about those power glitches. A good UPS is less than $100 and well worth the cost.
