2005 mac mini wireless adapter

my mac mini does not have a wireless card nor "airport" icon. i am using a usb wireless adapter. it say connected but will not connect to safari. it does connect because it installed apple updates

What network are you connecting to, a home wireless network?

It is a home wireless network. I already have a macbook pc using the network. I acquired this mini from my deceased son. He apparently had it on hardwire network because the mini did not come with a wireless card.
