I have a dish network receiver and I would like to occasionally save a show permanently to my computer. That way I can watch it anytime using my appletv. These shows are all from hgtv and not available via torrent sites or via the hgtv website. So I'm looking for a solution.
A relative of mine gave me an Elgato One recorder but he hadn't used it in a long time and lost the serial number. I'm not sure how good of quality I would get with this solution.
I've also considered a dvd recorder that uses dvd-ram discs so I can move the video to the computer. I am a minimalist though so it would have to be very small.
Thoughts on what is the best way to proceed?
