New Imac i7, Fusion Drive, 8GB Ram.
So I am looking to get my #2 Imac.
I noticed you could by one with 2 hard drives.
1 SSD drive and 1 hard drive.

Is the SSD you BOOT drive?
And how does it decide where to put data?

Yes if you get the duel hard drives, Apple will automatically make the SSD drive the boot drive with all of the stock software being loaded onto it.

Beyond that and once you get ahold of it, you can store and/or install anything on whatever drive you feel like. I recommend keeping the SSD the boot drive with all of the applications being installed onto it and storing all of your media such as music, movies, and photos on the HDD.

Apps boot much faster when installed on the SSD.
