burning HD video

Short answer ...... You can't if you want a DVD to play in an off-the-shelf player.
The DVD standard doesn't support HD resolutions.
You can put an HD file on a DVD as just a storage medium in the same way you could just copy it to a usb drive, but that complicates playback options for the recipient and is not going to be playable on most standalone players

The other posters are correct. DVD just doesn't have the video bandwidth to support HD resolutions even if the video file size is less than 4 gigs.
You're going to want to purchase a Blu Ray disc burner from somewhere. Most blu ray burners come with Roxio Toast so you can start burning right out of the box. This link should get you started:
