System Restore, how to do?

Aplogies for speaking Windows here, but I'm a new Mac user and need some help. How do you 'restore' the system to an earlier state? I have some software conflicts and would like to return the system to it's happy state a few instals ago since I can't nail down exactly where the problem lies.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Unless you created a backup image file or have a bit of software installed that does this, you can't.

But to restore the Operating system itself whilst retaining your files & apps, just pop in the system disks and select 'archive & install'.

Whether or not this will cure the problems you're having you'll have to see though...

Perhaps we can help with the specific issues your having?

Yep, your right. But if it is a software conflict (I am assuming Apps), like he says, it is likely in his profile, which and "Archive and Install" won't fix.

I just got a MBP second hand today. They guy gave me two disc # 1's but I did not realize this until I had disc 1 in for the restore. Now it wants disk 2 and I don't have it. I bought a retail Leopard but it won't get past the same screen asking for disk 2. It just pops my retail Leopard disk out. Is there anyway to bypass the disc on install and just use my Leopard disk?

I used a retail Leopard and I believe it said something like 15GB or less.
