Hello

I currently have Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 and would like to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.
Can this be done just by simply downloading an update or do I have to buy the OS snow leopard and install a completely new OS. Ive heard the 10.5 in the leopard is the last OS for leopard is this true?
If anyone can kindly help thanks.

ou can buy the Snow leopard disks off ebay

Make sure you buy the ones with the picture on the front of the cat, not the plain grey restore disks

It depends on your Mac. Leopard was the first retail release to support both Intel and PPC architectures.

Snow Leopard requires an Intel based Mac. If you've got one, great. However finding the retail media since it is no longer on shelves will be the next step. eBay was already suggested.

The install performs an upgrade to 10.5.8, not a complete wipe and reload (unless you want to).
