Deleting photos and folders in iphoto on macbook pro

i tried several ways to delete my photos in iphoto on my macbook pro. as a start up user i opened iphoto on my mac and created some folders and added some pictures in them. since i dont need them anymore i tried several ways to delete this folders with pictures but sucks. i am really exhausted trying to delete them. nuts nothing else. this app for sure not a user friendly. also i tried in show package in iphoto app. lot of modification but still sucks.

kindly please drop down your kind suggestion if any for my above question.

I take it that you've tried ctrl clicking on the folder and then selecting Delete?
