Hotmail.ca email problems

I have an iphone 3gs. No problem receiving emails, but can not send any. I always get a message say that the conection to the outgoing server "smtp.live.ca" failed. I have added a hotmail.ca outgoing server, smtp.live.ca. Because the one on my phone is a hotmail.com server. But still does not work, anyone any ideas :(

did you delete the account and add again? maybe just a silly question but often that helps
