Hi,

I bought my first Mac a couple of months ago and it is getting very hot in the recharger area, when plugged in. Also sometimes even when it is not connected to the electricity... Is it normal? I used to have several notebooks from Asus and they were also warm, but not hot like this... Should I be worried?

Thanks!

Aluminum just so happens to be an outstanding conductor, not just of electricity, but also heat.

So, yes, it's not unusual for the bottom of an aluminum MacBook/Air/Pro to become warm, even hot - particularly in comparison to plastic notebooks (as plastic is actually somewhat of an insulator).

If it bothers you, I would recommend purchasing a lap desk or notebook cooler - but no, I don't think it's abnormal.
