advanced charting software I wish to use requires OSX10.5 or higher. I have old MacBook with OSX10.4.11. Anyone know my least problematic options/upgrades and how and where to best accomplish it? I'm pretty much a novice and don't want problems and would prefer lowest cost solution also. Thank you

Upgrading to Leopard is not going to be a low cost upgrade. You need a Leopard retail DVD (Black with big X) and they are around $100 on eBay and Craig's list. Unless you somehow luck out and find one less expensive....

It's pretty much unnecessary to make this statement...I don't know too many folks who like BIG problems & HIGH cost!;)

Since you mentioned having an older MacBook...you could upgrade to OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Snow Leopard is no longer sold by Apple...but according to some folks...you can call Apple directly...and they will sell you one (around $29 bucks).
