4 year old mac book pro screen goes black

When I turn my laptop on it boots up, screen lights up, Apple icon shows, Keyboard lights up then screen goes black & doesen't come back on. I just used the laptop 2 hours ago & when I rebooted it, I had this issue. HELP!

Reset PRAM & NVRAM

I reset my PRAM & NVRAM by turning Mac Book Pro on and holding down command control P & R before gray screen appears. Hold down until second startup sound is heard.;D

If you're getting the gray screen on reboot...and the display only goes black after the OS has fully loaded...then it would seem that the hardware/display is ok.

Try booting the computer with an OS install disk...or the gray disks that came with the computer when new...and see if the display problem persists.
