Calendar question

Hey all -

Having a little problem with calendar and I hope you guys could help me out.

When I put an entry into my imac calendar it does not sync with my icould calendar.

However when i am on my icloud calendar and put and entry it, it shows up on my imac calendar.

I am sure it is simple. What am i doing wrong!!!

I have not used calendar on macs long, but do you have Calendars and Reminders selected in the iCloud under system preferences. Also, if you look on the calendar program and click the button on the top left that says Calendars it opens up and lists calendars you are using and which ones are on the iCloud. Hope this helps.
