su permission denied issues

hi there, i am new to this forum. Actually, I'm new to Macs altogether

firstly, i am running Mac OS 10.7.4

I am trying to run a small app that requires me to run via Terminal. i am using the su command but when i try and run the app, i get Permission Denied.
