Printing Problem

I have an imac OSX 10.5.8 with an Epsom r220 printer. I recently tried to print an e-book and when it finished the printing I noticed various letters were missing from the text. I printed another book from the same supplier and it was fine. I then sent the first PDF file to my daugher who printed it without a problem. I have also managed to print the original myself page by page without a problem

Although I did find a work round and have the books I was wondering if anyone else ever came accross this problem
