I am creating a usb bootable disk for mountain lion. I am using lion diskmaker. It has been copying files for the past two hours.

Is this normal, how long does it take to create the usb install disk?

It took as long as it did to download from the App Store. Should be getting close to finished even if you had a reasonably slow connection speed. On ADSL2+ took one hour download, one hour to copy to USB thumb drive.
