Restoring iPhone from Backup

iPhone 4S with Mac OSX SL. I did a restore from backup which was only a hour old and somehow after everything was complete I gained 1 GB. Does anyone know why? All seems to be fine at first glance. Also is there a way to restore from older backup images, or can I restore only from the latest backup image? Thanks..

We can't possibly know why you gained 1GB, your "gas gauge" in iTunes should show you where the extra material came from.

You *should* be able to restore from older images if you have them in iTunes.

I should have taken a screen shot prior to wiping the phone and restoring from latest backup. Anyways I had 8.2 GB's FREE at 7:13pm last night, and after the restore I had 9GB's FREE so I dont know...
