I just upgraded to os X Lion, and all of a sudden I can connect my tv to my computer with the Hdmi cord. I researched this on the computer and could tell that many other people were also having this problem. I was wondering if the mountain lion upgrade would fix this issue or if i should downgrade to snow leopard. I would much rather upgrade than downgrade though, but I need this hdmi thing fixed.

Assuming you mean "can't" rather than "can".....
Are you getting an error?
Does it work OK lid shut? (assuming you have MacBook)
Does anything appear or is it blank?
Have you reset PRAM/SMC?
Have you tried a different cable?
