my macbook pro is the 13" mid 2012 model. I've been looking into taking out the optical drive to fit a SSD. When looking on eBay for a suitable caddy, practically all the available ones are only suitable for MBP's up to early 2011. Is this because:

1. There was a size change from mid 2011 or -

2. Is it likely that at the time of writing the advert the early 2011 was the latest one and they haven't updated their spec recs.

ie. are the post early 2011 models the same size and the caddies will fit, or has there been an actual change in MBP sizes and the caddies won't fit my model?

Cheers

The size didn't change. I'm sure what you see are just out of date specs.

That said, you can get one for under $10 on Amazon.

If you want a quality one, get the data doubler from OWC. It's what I have, and I have the same model MBP as you.
