I just bought a used Macbook Air. I'm noticing now that there is some slight discoloration in the behind the glass of the screen. I'm not sure what it is, and it's hardly noticeable, but I'd like to have it checked out. Any ideas of what it could be? While this computer is still under warranty until April of 2013, I am wondering if it transfers over to me, the new owner. Does it?

Sounds like LCD bruising. Its caused by pressure being applied to the lcd.
I would surely take it in as the warranty is on the machine, not the owner ;P

Any idea if something like that might be covered under the warranty? Thanks

Yes it does. Apple tracks warranty coverage by the serial number of the computer...not by any owner info. You could be the 10th owner of the computer...and as long as there is warranty time remaining...the computer is still covered for that remaining time.

How to Transfer an Apple Warranty | eHow.com

"Apple is a corporation that produces consumer electronics. There are two kinds of Apple warranties for these consumer electronics. The initial one-year warranty can be used as long as you have the serial number of the product. Thus, to transfer the initial one-year warranty to another person, you need only transfer the serial number. However, the Apple Care Protection Plan warranty requires additional steps in order to be transferred. These steps are detailed below."

If it is LCD Bruising, it's probably not going to be covered.

I had this issue on a different machine once - and it was explained to me this way:

a). It didn't come from the factory that way.
b). The only way it happens is if something pushes on the screen.
c). That's not a manufacturing defect.
d). It's not under warranty.

But take it in anyway - you might get someone nice.

I think it's worth a drive to the Apple store to try and find somebody nice ;) Thanks!
