i dont know what happened. I was locked out of the login window. my password didnt work. so i logged in using my apple id and my password. i got in. a few minutes later, i cant make any changes on my user account. i looked at my keychain access to figure out what's wrong. i can't get in either. all my passwords have been changed. i logged out and tried to log in again but i can't. i've been locked out. i called apple support for help and they said i can do option R to reinstall the system. when i tried that, it's asking me for a password that i cannot answer at all.

1. as a precaution all my firewall are on. i have mackeeper and bluetooth off for remote login.

i'm bringing my imac at the apple store today. but i want to know how this happened. and how i can stop this again.

because of this hacked account, the person now has all my passwords to my email.

how was he able to access my keychain when it has it's own password! i never tell anyone and i'm the only one using this imac at home.

please help me. i do not want this to happen again.

thank you in advance and please answer me in a non techy way.

thank u again

You don't really need any apps to secure your Mac.
Deactivate all Remote Access options you don’t need:

1. open up System Preferences
2. click on Sharing
3. deactivate Remote Login and Apple Remote Desktop
4. deactivate everything else you don’t need

For even higher security you could activate the Firewall:

1. open System Preferences
2. click on Sharing
3. click on the Firewall tab
4. again, uncheck all services you don’t need
5. click on “Start”

- changing your Email password depends on the service you are using
- your Facebook password can be changed within your Facebook account

Change your Mac OS X User Password:
1. open System Preferences
2. Click on “Accounts”
3. select your Username and click on “Reset Password”

You can gain additional security by disabling autologin:

1. again, go to “Accounts” within System Preferences
2. click on “Login Options”
3. disable the automatic login option

I wouldn't hesitate to also ask the guys at the genius bar, as long as your there.

And for goodness sake, UN-install Mackeeper. Do a search of the forums to find out why.
